Settling in Period
The first few days your child is away from parents and familar surroundings can be difficult and he/she may be a little anxious and unsettled. If possible we encourage several visits to the centre before regular care starts to familiarise the child with new surroundings and meet staff and other children.
Do remember that staff are experienced with comforting unsettled children. If you are at all anxious about your child do not hesitate to call the centre at any time for reassurance.

Hours & Fees
Fees are payable in advance one calendar month (including all Public Holidays). On enrolment a bond of $ 100 is payable for administration fees. When you leave Bayfield Early Education Centre this will be credited.
This bond can be paid in cash or by cheque attached to the enrolment form. It is non-refundable if your child is offered a place and you choose not to start or defer the enrolment. The first fees payment can also be made by cheque/cash if it is not for a full calendar month.
For fees payments we will have an eftpos facility and direct credits only. No cheques or cash are accepted for monthly fees.
Our account numbers for direct credits will be on the invoices. Fees must be paid on the first of the month for that month in advance and late fees will attract a 10% penalty.
Invoices will be in your child’s locker two weeks prior to payment due and parents should enquire if they have not received one. Tax receipts can be issued at the end of the financial year if required.
Please note there is a minimum enrolment of three days per week and six hours per day.
We cannot provide make up days. Any changes to the hours of enrolment (including withdrawal from the centre) requires two weeks notice. Changes, if possible should take place at the beginning of the billing month.
Sibling Enrolments
We do not assume that your child’s sibling brother or sister will automatically be enrolled with us. If you wish them to be on a wait list you need to let us know as soon as possible.
We would prefer you to drop off and collect your child promptly. However, there will be an extra charge of $6.00 per hour (or part hour) for any time outside enrolled hours and $2.00 per minute after closure time of 5.30pm as we are not allowed to have children on the premises after this time. Children who are enrolled from nine to three must be picked up at 3.00pm. Our staff/ratios may be compromised if this does not happen. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Please note our opening hours are 7.30am to 5.30pm.

Meals
We have a cook employed to supply the children with nutritious and well-balanced lunches, morning and afternoon teas.
If your child has special dietary requirements please let us know. Our menu has been advised by a registered dietician.
Meal times are held in a group environment where the children are able to mix and socialize with others.
A copy of our menu is available for your inspection.

Things to Bring
Please label all children's belongings clearly.
Do dress your child in appropriate "play" clothes as they may well get glue, paint and other products on them. Messy play is fun and educational and will be part of your child's programme here.
Parents of babies please supply us with babies' milk formulas and bottles.
Plenty of changes of spare clothes (especially when toilet training) at least three changes.
Nappies (for babies).

Bringing toys from home
Please do not bring toys to the centre.(We have enough of them here thanks). Especially not appreciated are violent toys such as guns or any kind of war toys. Please do not bring these toys into the centre (even to be left in their bags). The children know they are not allowed them so do reinforce this for us.
Please take an interest in your child's work and development. It is the process that is important, not always the result. There are many activities happening in the centre each day. We ask that you do not judge your child's participation in our activities by the quantity of work brought home each day, and we discourage comparison between one child's development and another's.
When you pick up your child please clear their art box and their pocket. However, do not feel disappointed if your child does not always have a picture to take home, not all experiences can be captured on paper. The experience of doing and participating is at most times more important than the end result.
Feel free to speak to a teacher about your child's play. If you have any concerns, please address these to the Head Teacher of Centre Manager. pagetop
First of all, sick children should not be here! If your child is
unwell and has been on medication such as an antibiotic, we would request that they had a full day at home on medicine (at least) before they return to the centre.
However, if medicine is required to be given please ensure that you give the medicine directly to a staff member and make sure you sign the medicine chart. Only prescribed current medicines will be given to children (this includes pamol). Do not leave medicine in your child's bag.

Your child has his/her own locker. We will leave any correspondence in either the locker or a special envelope with your child's name on it. Invoices will be issued at least a week prior to due date. Please advise if you have not received one.
We do not send out newsletters to parents but update our blogsite weekly with the latest information and what is happening within the centre. Also check our blog calendar for all upcoming events.
Please be sure to let us know any changes to addresses and phone numbers (including work details).
We have opportunities during our whanau/family open days for extended members of the family to visit the centre and spend time with their child. These include “Mum’s Day, Dad’s Day and Grandparents Day.
